AirIQ Helps Fleets Track Trucks

AirIQ has a product that keeps track of a fleet’s vehicles.

Instead of having employees count the trucks by walking through the vehicle yard, the Automated Fleet Inventory service allows managers to determine the location of their trucks by using an automated process, according to the Toronto company.

At a set time, each vehicle in a fleet communicates its location via satellite to the carrier’s terminal. The information is transmitted through a computerized mapping system.

The vehicle’s location is logged into the carrier’s personal computer, which compiles and turns the information into an overall report of the position of all the trucks and trailers in a fleet, the company said.

AirIQ said the system can determine if any truck is out of a designated area or is speeding. It also can remotely disable a vehicle.
