ZF Group announced a new scalable suite of data- and AI- based services called Adas.ai that is intended to help original equipment manufacturers digitally accelerate the development of advanced driver assist systems for commercial vehicles and passenger cars.

ZF’s new digital engineering and validation suite can reduce associated time and cost by up to 20%, according to the company, whose U.S. operation is based in Livonia, Mich. ZF ADAS.ai can be applied to ADAS systems developed by ZF as well as other Tier I suppliers.

“With our approach, an OEM neither needs legions of test drivers nor millions in investment dollars to engineer and validate with confidence. We bring the real and virtual worlds together because we use real-world data to drive both modalities,” Christophe Marnat, executive vice president of electronics and ADAS division, ZF Group, said in a release.

ADAS.ai is based on two breakthroughs: a super-high resolution multisensor synchronized data set collected by driving all scenarios and mileage required to validate L2+ ADAS systems globally, and, secondly, proprietary AI technology developed with Rehovot, Israel-based Cognata that transforms the super-high-resolution data set to sensor inputs "as seen" by new sensors in new vehicle applications. — Transport Topics
