XPO Logistics appointed Erik Caldwell president of its last-mile business unit in North America, the company announced Sept. 8.

The division manages more than 10 million home deliveries and installations of big and bulky products annually. Caldwell now has profit-and-loss responsibility for last-mile operations in the U.S. and Canada.

“I’m extremely pleased that Erik has joined the transportation leadership team as head of last-mile,” Drew Wilkerson, XPO’s president of North American transportation, said in a statement. “His expertise is a strong fit with our last-mile growth strategy as we continue to capitalize on e-commerce and omnichannel opportunities.”

Caldwell has been appointed to various leadership roles since joining the company in 2017. He originally was chief operating officer for supply chains in the Americas and Asia Pacific. He has 16 years of executive experience throughout his career with retail and industrial supply chains.

XPO ranks No. 1 on the Transport Topics Top 50 list of the largest logistics companies in North America and No. 3 on the TT Top 100 list of the largest for-hire carriers in North America. — Transport Topics
