WSDOT to Close Portions of I-5 North

The Washington Department of Transportation said it is preparing to close a 1.1 mile stretch of Interstate 5, a major highway leading to downtown Seattle, for a 19 day repair project.

WSDOT said it will shut down up to three lanes and multiple ramps between Spokane and I-90 so that repair crews can replace aging expansion joints on the Northbound I-5 bridge.

The round-the-clock repairs are scheduled to begin Aug. 10 and conclude Aug. 19, WSDOT said.

The agency said is encouraging trucks to use I-405, East Marginal Way South and Airport Way South to avoid the construction zone.
