AW members at the Freightliner plant in Mount Holly, N.C. approved on Sunday a new contract, ending a strike that went into effect after midnight on Saturday, local television station WSOC reported.

For several weeks, workers and management had been in negotiations concerning vacation benefits, pay and safety issues, WSOC said.

The new contract includes a bonus for the plant workers and retains medical and dental benefits, WSOC reported. The agreement affects about 1,500 UAW members.
