evin Williams resigned as chief executive officer of the Distribution and LTL Carriers Association, raising questions about the future of a group that has faced declining membership and limited financial resources in recent years.

Association Chairman Michael Wichert, president of Cal State Xpress, said the executive committee would meet Feb. 1, and “the determination on the direction of the association will be made at that time. It’s a membership decision. We have a lot of choices.”

The group is affiliated with American Trucking Associations and ATA President Bill Graves last week said the LTL organization would continue to be an important segment of the industry.
