Werner Enterprises announced it was recognized for the fifth consecutive year as a company that is friendly toward military veterans.

The 2021 Military Friendly Company award recognizes businesses that show exceptional support for military veterans. VIQTORY Media organizes the award each year.

Werner is the only trucking company that was recognized this year.

“Serving in our country’s military is one of the most honorable things a person can do,” Werner CEO Derek Leathers said in a statement. “At Werner, we provide further career opportunities to our service members, veterans and their families so they can continue to serve our nation by delivering goods to our stores, hospitals and families.”

VIQTORY recognized 69 organizations this year that qualified for the award based on recruiting, hiring and training of veterans and military spouses. The companies have also demonstrated a commitment to having a positive brand reputation in the military community. Participants were evaluated using both public and government data sources with responses from a comprehensive survey completed by the employer.

Werner is a transportation and logistics provider based in Omaha, Neb. The company prides itself on being a military-ready employer and noted veterans and their spouses are approximately 20% of its workforce. Werner has hired more than 23,000 veterans since 2010.

Werner ranks No. 16 on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of the largest for-hire carriers in North America.
