he Washington state House passed a measure that would require that 2% of the state’s diesel sales to be biodiesel by Dec. 1, 2008, the Associated Press reported.

The legislature’s 70-28 vote would also require that gasoline be blended with a minimum of 2% ethanol, AP reported. Ethanol standards could rise to 10% if air quality would not be affected.

The state has a goal of selling 20 million gallons a year in state said Rep. Janea Holmquist (R), the bill’s prime sponsor.

Minnesota also has a 2% biodiesel law, but truckers in that state ran into problems when they reported clogged filters from the soy-based additive. (Click here for previous coverage.)
