ruck trailer maker Wabash National Corp. late Wednesday reported fourth-quarter net income of $19.7 million or 55 cents a share, up from $13 million or 39 cents for the same period a year earlier.

Net sales rose to $340.8 million, from $287.4 million, Wabash said in a statement.

For the full year, Wabash earned $111.1 million or $3.06 per share, compared with $58.4 million or $1.80 in 2004, the company said.

“We approach 2006 with a sense of optimism regarding industry demand and our ability to reap the rewards of our investments despite competitive pricing and raw material costs pressures,” said Wabash Chief Executive Officer William Greubel.
