Volvo’s North American Deliveries Rise 18%

Volvo Group’s North American truck deliveries rose 18% in April from a year ago, the company said.

Deliveries rose to 5,695 trucks from 4,813 a year ago, Gothenberg, Sweden-based Volvo Group said in a statement. That was down from 6,051 in March.

Volvo Trucks’ deliveries jumped 28% in North America to 3,540, and Mack Trucks' gained 5% to 2,131 trucks.

Volvo Group’s worldwide deliveries for all of its brands rose 8% for the month to 17,715 units. Heavy-duty unit deliveries rose 9% to 15,159 trucks.



European deliveries jumped 24% to 7,185, led by a 31% surge in Western Europe to 5,950. South American deliveries showed continued decline, falling 42% to 1,025, and Asian deliveries rose 9% to 2,627.

Volvo Group makes Volvo and Mack trucks in North America and includes the Eicher, UD Trucks and Renault Trucks brands worldwide. In March, Volvo sold a stake in India-based Eicher for $300 million.
