Volvo Group plans to build a 115,000-square-foot parts distribution center in Tacoma, Wash., the parent company of Volvo Trucks North America and Mack Trucks said.

The distribution center is expected to cost $37.7 million to build and open in the first quarter of 2027.

Volvo Group regional distribution centers serve VTNA and Mack dealers plus the needs of sister companies Volvo Penta and Volvo Construction Equipment.

The parent company said the Tacoma facility will be the primary distribution center for about 240 dealers and is expected to reduce delivery times by one to two days on average.

About 20 people will be employed when the facility opens.

Once operational, the Tacoma facility is expected to fulfill in excess of 500,000 orders a year.

The new distribution center will serve dealers in the northwestern United States and western Canada.

“This facility represents a significant expansion to the Volvo Group’s parts distribution capabilities, allowing us to reduce transportation lead times and improve reliability, especially for dealers in the more remote areas of western Canada,” said Peter Andell, vice president of service market logistics for Volvo Group North America.

Volvo Group currently has regional distribution centers in Jacksonville, Fla; Reno, Nev.; Columbus, Ohio; Chicago; Dallas; Baltimore; and Toronto.

The company also has a central distribution center for North America in Byhalia, Miss.
