DUBLIN, Va. — Volvo Trucks dedicated a 2015 Volvo VNL 780 truck and recognized the 2015-2016 America’s Road Team, the trucking industry’s premier safety outreach program.

Magnus Koeck, Volvo Trucks' vice president of marketing and brand management, presented the truck's keys to Pat Thomas, American Trucking Associations first vice chairman, at Volvo's New River Valley plant here.

“Volvo Trucks is proud to play a role in the exceptional outreach work done by the America’s Road Team,” Koeck said. “It is our hope that [the truck] will enable the Road Team Captains to succeed in their mission to raise awareness of highway safety and emphasize the essentiality of our industry."

Thomas said at a press conference at the plant that ATA member companies "feel [the Road Team] is very important to the industry," adding that "a good number of our member companies" support it.

The 19 Road Team Captains, who were selected earlier this week, drove the truck Friday afternoon at Volvo's test track, and will soon travel to schools, meetings, conferences and media events around the country to promote trucking industry safety.
