Vnomics Corp. is expanding its fuel-optimization product offerings to fleets with telematics systems, the company announced May 27.

The True Fuel optimization solution will be available to fleets as an application. That means it can be used with their existing telematics systems, which includes electronic logging devices.

Vnomics provides onboard fuel optimization offerings that combine real-time driver coaching and detailed fuel-efficiency insights. The company said the application will enable fleets to use the service without having to purchase or install new in-cab hardware.

“Expanding our product offering to run True Fuel on existing telematics platforms will mean more fleets can realize its benefits, including saving between 3% and 10% on their annual fuel purchase,” Bob Magnant, vice president of product management, said in a statement.

True Fuel still will be offered by the company through in-cab hardware for trucks without telematics systems. The application helps fleets lower operating expenses by reducing fuel waste.

The software quantifies fuel loss due to driver behavior. That includes engine speed control, speeding and idling. This gives fleets an accurate fuel performance-based metric that can be used in fuel savings initiatives.

Also, the software works by regularly sending out automated reports that include only the data relevant to improving fuel costs. It also will play coaching tones when drivers are operating the truck inefficiently. There also is a portal to dig into more analysis. — Transport Topics
