Vitran Reports Record Second-Quarter Income, Revenue

oronto-based transportation and logistics firm Vitran Corp.’s second-quarter profit and revenue rose to records, as it posted net income of $5.8 million or 45 cents a share, up from $4.8 million or 38 cents last year.

Revenue rose 18% to $123.6 million, the company said Thursday.

Vitran has truckload and less-than-truckload operations in the United States and Canada.



Operating income from its LTL business rose 21.3% in the quarter to $8 million.

Logistics segment operating income rose 3.7%, while truckload income from operations fell to $530,000 from $716,000 a year earlier.

Vitran is ranked No. 60 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
