Vitran Names Deluce Interim CEO as Gaetz Departs

Vitran Corp. said Thursday that Rick Gaetz has resigned as the company’s president and CEO, effective immediately, and that its board has appointed Bill Deluce interim president and CEO.

Deluce has been a member of Vitran’s board since 2004 and has been CEO and a director of “various corporations,” Vitran’s chairman, Richard McGraw, said in a statement.

Deluce “will work closely” with Vitran’s management team and board to oversee ongoing operations and efforts to improve its financial results, the statement said.

The Toronto-based carrier said it will immediately begin a search for a new CEO. Vitran will report is fourth-quarter and 2012 earnings on April 25.

Vitran is ranked No. 34 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
