Virginia Brothers Suspected Of Killing Truck Driver

Police suspect two brothers are responsible for the murder of a trucker who has been missing since late April.

Eugene and Travis Friend, both of Richmond, Va., were arrested May 2 after they were found driving a truck cab that belonged to Samuel Lam of Scarborough, Maine.

Police released their 15-year-old brother, who was with them at the time of the arrest in Trenton, Ga.

Lam was delivering a load of shrubs last month when he disappeared in Virginia.

Police think Eugene and Travis Friend stole Lam's vehicle from a truck stop in Richmond, dumped its trailer loaded with plants and drove to Tennessee. There, they allegedly stole an empty trailer before heading to Texas to pick up a load of carrots.

The two brothers have been charged with theft and bringing stolen property into the state. The suspects have not cooperated with investigators, said sheriff's Capt. Don Hicks of Dade County in Georgia.
