Viking Freight to Raise Rates

SAN JOSE, Calif. — Viking Freight said it would implement a 5.8% rate increase effective Jan. 4, 1999.

The increase applies to all interstate and intrastate traffic, with other adjustments in certain lanes.

President Douglas Duncan said the increase "reflects changes in the overall cost of doing business and allows us to invest in improvements that will result in higher customer satisfaction."

Viking is a unit of FDX Corp., the parent of express carrier Federal Express and package delivery specialist RPS Inc., expedited carrier Roberts Express and FDX Global Logistics.
