Utility Trailer Chooses Grote to Supply All-LED Lighting

Utility Trailer Manufacturing Co. is switching to 100% light-emitting diode lighting on all of its refrigerated and dry van trailers and tandem- and tridem-axle flatbeds, the company said March 24.

The City of Industry, Calif., manufacturer said it is using Grote Industries as its supplier.

The 100% LED lighting was to be displayed on Utility’s 4000D-X composite dry van and its 3000R refrigerated trailer at the Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, Ky., March 31-April 2.

“We will utilize a new LED mid-ship clearance light that also functions as a turn signal. This new light will provide greater visibility for all drivers on the road and lower maintenance costs due to the extended service life of LED lights,” said Craig Bennett, Utility’s senior vice president for sales and marketing.

The new LED light meets both federal and California regulations for mid-trailer flashing lights, the Utility statement said. Completing the transition to all LED lights also includes changing the license plate light to LED.
