UTi Worldwide Reports Higher Earnings

Air and ocean freight forwarder UTi Worldwide said its net income for its 2009 fiscal second quarter ended July 31 rose to $33.7 million, or 33 cents a share, from $27.7 million, or 28 cents a year ago.

The results included a gain of $5.3 million from the sale of its art-packing business, the company said. Revenue rose 20% to $1.26 billion, the company said.

The company’s UTi Integrated Logistics division is ranked No. 24 on the Transport Topics Logistics 50 listing of U.S. and Canadian logistics companies.
