U.S. Trade Deficit Rises 2.5% to $63.4 Billion

he U.S. trade deficit rose 2.5% in April from March to $63.4 billion, the Commerce Department said Friday.

Economists had forecast the deficit to rise to $65 billion, Bloomberg reported.

Imports rose and exports were little changed, while the deficit with China widened, Bloomberg reported.



Import prices rose in May, a separate report from the Labor Department showed, gaining 1.6%, following a 2.1% in April. Excluding oil, prices gained 0.6%, the most since October.
