U.S. Average Retail Diesel Price Rises 1.1 Cents
The U.S. average pump price for diesel fuel rose by 1.1 cents in the past week, to $1.539 per gallon as of Jan. 29, the Energy Department reported late Monday.
That is a smaller jump than the 1.9 cent gain the previous week.
The price was mostly up across the department’s U.S. regional listings, falling only in parts of New England and the Central Atlantic.
In California, the price rose by 1.9 cents, from $1.594 to $1.613. The diesel supply in California was temporarily reduced this month, when the state’s electricity crisis briefly caused a major pipeline to shut pumping stations during daytime hours. But pipeline operator Kinder Morgan Energy Partners said Friday that no more such inter-ruptions are expected, Reuters reported.
