U.S. Auto Sales Jump in June

U.S. automobile sales rose at an annualized rate of 15.96 million in June, the fastest monthly pace since December 2007, the Associated Press reported.

Ford Motor Co.’s sales of cars and light trucks gained 13% to almost 235,000 vehicles, Chrysler Group’s increased 8.2% to 156,686 and General Motors Co.’s rose 6.5% to 264,843.

Sales of Ford F-Series pickups surged 24% to 68,009, GM’s Chevrolet Silverado jumped 29% to 43,259 and Chrysler’s Ram pickup sales increased 24% to 29,644, Bloomberg News reported.

Nissan Motor Co.’s U.S. sales rose 13% and Toyota Motor Corp.’s rose 9.8% to 195,235. Honda Motor Co.’s deliveries increased 9.7%.



Volkswagen AG’s combined sales for its VW and Audi brands dipped 0.3%, while combined sales for Korea-based Hyundai Motor Co. and affiliate Kia Motors Corp. rose 0.4%.
