UPS Hiring 1,500 Part-Time Workers at Ky. Air Hub
PS Inc. said it is adding about 1,500 part-time workers in Louisville, Ky., with the employees going to departments at its air hub at Louisville International Airport, the Associated Press reported.
A company spokesman said the jobs come in part from the company's December 2004 acquisition of Menlo Worldwide Forwarding. UPS is consolidating Menlo's Dayton, Ohio operations at the Louisville airport.
Air express shipments through the airport, which are primarily handled by UPS, rose almost 4.5% last year to almost 4 billion pounds and December, which includes the Christmas holidays, was up almost 14%, AP reported.
The jobs are 15 to 20 hours a week and start at $8.50 an hour.
UPS is ranked No. 1 in the Transport Topics 100 listing of North American trucking companies.
