PS Inc. said Monday that Leo Suggs has stepped down as president of the company’s UPS Freight less-than-truckload unit. He has been succeeded by long-time colleague Gordon Mackenzie.

Through the end of this year, Sugggs will lead a "broad service quality initiative" at the LTL unit, UPS said.

Suggs was previously chairman and chief executive officer of Overnite Corp., and guided that LTL carrier through its acquisition by UPS last August. UPS subsequently renamed Overnite as UPS Freight, effective May 1. (Click here for previous coverage.)

Mackenzie was Preston Trucking’s COO of from 1993 to 1996. He has held executive positions at Standard Trucking Co., Ryder and Transcon Lines.
