UPS Announces Rate Increase

United Parcel Service will raise its rates for the coming year, the company announced Tuesday.

Rates for most domestic air express services and ground deliveries will increase by about 2.5%, UPS said. Residential delveries will continue to be $1 more than commercial ground rates.

UPS said that the price to ship multipiece packages will increase as well, but that fees for international services from the U.S. will remain the same.

Among the other changes announced is a $1 delivery area surcharge that will be added for residential ground deliveries to certain ZIP codes.

The new prices will take effect February 8.
