Universal Truckload’s Profit Improves

Universal Truckload Services’ first-quarter net income rose to $3.6 million, or 23 cents a share, from $2.9 million, or 19 cents, a year ago.

Revenue rose 11.6% to $18.2 million, the truckload carrier said.

Truckload revenue climbed 7% to $104 million, while brokerage revenue jumped 26% to $46.4 million. Intermodal revenue increased 7.8% to $25.3 million.

Universal Truckload is ranked No. 40 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
