Universal Truckload Services Buys Four Intermodal Firms

niversal Truckload Services said Thursday it acquired four intermodal companies that will operate as part of its Mason Dixon Intermodal subsidiary.

The four are Marc Largent, Los Angeles; Diamond Logistics, Houston; Assure Intermodal, Memphis, Tenn.; DiJulio Enterprises, Seattle.

Terms were not disclosed, but the four generated combined gross revenue of about $28 million last year, Universal said.



They employ about 170 owner-operators, and have 53 employees and 6 terminals in Texas, Tennessee, California and Washington state.

In addition to providing container delivery services, the four firms also operate two full-service storage, maintenance and repair facilities.

Universal, Warren, Mich., is ranked No. 64 on the Transport Topics 100 list of the largest U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
