Union Pacific, BNSF to Expand Wyoming Track

estern freight railroads Union Pacific and BNSF Railway Co. said they would jointly fund a $100 million track expansion in Wyoming, to boost coal-handling capability.

oth railroads agreed on preliminary work to build more than 40 miles of third and fourth main line tracks over the next two years in Wyoming’s Powder River Basin coal field.

The Powder River Basin produces low-sulfur coal, heavily in demand, the rail lines said.
