Unemployment Rate Holds at 4.5%

U.S. employers added 132,000 jobs in June while the unemployment rate remained at 4.5%, the Labor Department reported.

The jobs gain was below a revised 190,000 increase in May. The jobless rate has held at 4.5% for three months.

Manufacturers’ payrolls fell 18,000 last month after falling by 7,000 a month earlier. Service industries added 135,000 jobs.

The unemployment-rate gauge is based on a survey of households. The number of payroll jobs added is determined by a separate survey of business and government establishments.
