Truck Tolls to Jump Next Year on S.F. Area Bridges

Passenger car tolls will rise July 1 on seven state-owned bridges that crisscross the San Francisco Bay, while truck tolls will jump a year and two years from then, according to the Bay Area Toll Authority.

On July 1, 2011, a five-axle truck will pay $18 to cross any one of the bridges, up from today’s $11.25, which will hold for another year. On July 1, 2012, the tolls for five-axle trucks will jump to $25 per crossing.

Auto fees will tick up $1 on July 1 of this year on all bridges. There will also be congestion pricing on the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge, the region’s busiest, BATA said.

In addition to the Bay Bridge, the bridges affected by the toll increase are the Antioch, Benicia-Martinez, Carquinez, Dumbarton, Richmond-San Rafael and San Mateo-Hayward.

Toll revenues from the Golden Gate Bridge are administered by the separate Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District.
