Retail sales of heavy-duty trucks in the United States totaled 11,398 in December 2001, which was 23% less than the 14,794 recorded during the same month in 2000, according to information compiled by Wards Communications.Annual sales were down by almost a third among heavy-duty truck makers compared with 2000 sales. For all of 2001, sales of heavy-duty trucks reached 139,614 units, a drop of 29% from the 196,759 sold in 2000.
