Truck Manufacturers Assn. Elects Volvo’s Skip Yeakel Chairman

The Truck Manufacturers Association elected Volvo Trucks North America’s Skip Yeakel as TMA’s new chairman.

Yeakel succeeds Navistar Inc.’s Mike Roeth, the group’s previous chairman, in the one-year term, TMA said following its mid-year meeting earlier this month.

It is Yeakel’s second stint at the helm of the truckmakers group; he previously served as its chair in 2003-2004. He has more than 46 years of experience in the U.S. trucking industry.

In addition to TMA, he is past chairman and an active member of American Trucking Associations’ Technology and Engineering Policy Committee, and a past member of ATA’s Board of Directors and the American Truck Research Institute’s Research Advisory Council.

Yeakel, principal engineer with VTNA, has been a member of Society of Automotive Engineers for 45 years, with links to ATA’s Technology and Maintenance Council.

Other TMA officers elected include Bob Morrison, general manager of Paccar Inc.’s technical center, who becomes the group’s vice chair, and Jeff Marsee of Isuzu Commercial Truck of America, who becomes TMA’s treasurer.

Tony Nokes, Daimler Trucks North America, and Bob Fasnacht, VTNA, will continue in their roles as chair and vice chair, respectively, of TMA’s operating committee, while Tim Blubaugh continues as TMA’s president, the group said in a statement.

TMA represents the North American truck vehicle manufacturers. Its members design, manufacture and market Ford, Freightliner, International, Isuzu, Kenworth, Mack, Peterbilt, Volvo and Western Star brand trucks.
