Truck Makers Offer Incentives to Boost Sales, Clear Inventory

wo truck makers offering incentives to buyers this summer are looking in opposite directions to increase sales. One company is intent on moving existing 2003 vehicles off dealer lots, while the other’s offer is linked to model year 2004 vehicles.

Paccar Inc. said its incentive package for its Peterbilt and Kenworth truck brands provides $1,000 toward the first monthly truck payment or one year of free preventive maintenance.

Freightliner LLC is offering incentives of fuel or cash on some of its model year 2004 Class 8 trucks and tractors.



Meanwhile, refrigerated carrier C.R. England said it was taking advantage of Freightliner’s aggressive marketing, buying about 1,000 Freightliners with Detroit Diesel engines.
