Trinity Industries has acquired RSI Logistics for $70 million, the company announced March 9.

Trinity owns businesses that provide railcar products and services in North America. RSI is a data-centric provider of proprietary software, logistics services and terminal-management solutions to the rail industry.

“We are excited about the acquisition of RSI Logistics,” Trinity CEO Jean Savage said. “It is another step as we seek to expand our service offerings with complementary solutions that make rail a more compelling mode of transportation.”

Dallas-based Trinity does not expect the acquisition to be material to its financial results. RSI employees also will be retained as part of the transaction, which closed March 8.

“RSI expands the breadth and quality of Trinity’s platform, adding logistics services, terminal operations and intermodal transportation,” Savage said. “Also coupling RSI’s expertise and reputation with the transformational technology of Trinsight will deliver a unique tool to rail shippers to gain more control of their supply chains.” — Transport Topics
