Trimble Navigation Ltd. said it has acquired navigation technology company ALK Technologies. No terms were disclosed.

ALK provides routing and map products for the transportation and logistics industry and, according to Trimble, 64% of North American for-hire carriers use ALK’s products.

Barry Glick, president of ALK, will continue to lead the company, according to Trimble.

“This is a significant milestone in ALK’s long history in transportation,” said Glick. “We are excited to join our well-known and respected partner TMW Systems under the global umbrella of Trimble. These organizations share our passion and vision for how location information can transform business and productivity.”

In October 2012, Trimble completed a $335 million acquisition of transportation software provider TMW Systems and in 2011, Trimble purchased commercial vehicle mobile communications firm PeopleNet Communications Corp.
