TravelCenters Closes Deal for ‘Minit Mart’ Stores

TravelCenters of America said it has closed on its purchase of 31 convenience stores with fueling stations for $67.9 million.

The company said that it will continue to run the stores under the “Minit Mart” brand name. Three of the stores are in Tennessee and 28 are in Kentucky.

TravelCenters announced the planned acquisition during November. Earlier in December, TravelCenters announced the sale of 6.5 million shares at $9.25 each to raise cash to be used in part to pay for the acquisition.

CEO Thomas O’Brien said the stores are “high-volume” fuel locations and offer more interior sales space than typical convenience stores.
