TravelCenters of America’s third-quarter earnings decreased from a year ago, the company said Nov. 4.

The truck-stop chain earned $15.8 million, or 53 cents a share, down from $18.9 million, or 66 cents, in the same period last year.

“Net income this quarter was lower than last year, but this was largely the result of higher depreciation and interest costs in 2013 stemming from recently acquired sites,” CEO Thomas O’Brien said in a statement.

Revenue increased to $2.06 billion from $2.03 billion, and revenue from fuel sales rose slightly to $1.66 billion.
