TravelCenters’ 2Q Profit Jumps

TravelCenters of America said its second-quarter earnings jumped from a year ago as fuel sales increased.

The truck stop chain reported net income of $21.7 million, or 99 cents a share, up from $1.2 million, or 7 cents, a year ago.

Revenue rose to $2.1 billion, from $1.5 billion, TA said in a statement. Fuel sales volume rose 4.3% from a year ago.

In May, TA acquired six travel centers for $25.5 million in a bankruptcy auction.



The company also purchased a travel center in Kansas for $5.7 million in June.
