Transportation Stock Averages Hit Record Highs

Indexes of trucking and transportation stocks rose to all-time highs Nov. 18, mirroring growth in the S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average, which also hit record levels.

The S&P’s index of 10 trucking companies climbed as high as 285.76 in intra-day trading, and the Dow Jones transportation index peaked at 7,245.01.

The Dow Jones transportation index is a price-weighted average of 20 U.S. transportation stocks, including several major trucking companies, as well as railroads and airlines. The S&P index rose above the 1,800 mark for the first time in early trading, and the Dow surpassed 16,000, another first.
