Transport United Buys North & South Logistics

Transport United Inc., which offers less-than-truckload and other freight services, announced the acquisition of North & South Logistics Inc., a freight broker, to add non-asset based-services.

It was the first brokerage acquisition for St. Louis-based Transport United, which didn’t say how much it paid for North Carolina-based North & South. The buyer’s statement also said the company is seeking additional LTL, intermodal and brokerage acquisitions.

Transport United President Mike Lampe told Transport Topics the acquisition is adding about $8 million in new annual revenue to his company, which runs 200 tractors and has approximately $26 million in annual revenue.

“This is an exciting day for Transport United,” Lampe said. “Steve Stutts built a first-rate operation at North & South Logistics and we're happy to have him joining the TU family.”

North & South manages household goods, LTL and other freight shipments.

Greenleaf Capital Partners, a St. Louis bank, advised Transport United on the transaction.
