Transport Topics' New People Newsletter!
You've heard the saying, "It's not what you know, it's who you know." Those words resonate strongly with our readers. The freight business, they are apt to say, is really a people business. Every handshake matters. Every conversation has the potential to lead to a new opportunity. All of that potential is probably what draws folks to the people news in our weekly edition. And it's also the reason for this newsletter.
The TT People newsletter is about moving and shaking in the industry — who’s doing what, who’s who, which companies are doing remarkable things or making changes, etc. It steps back from the hard news of the largest machines to cover something a lot more human and a bit more fun. It seeks to find the industry's most exceptional people. It hopes to examine how their activities and accomplishments shape the very world in which we do business. It is meant for everyone in freight transportation — all it requires is an email address for sending.
If you're like us, you probably like following these types of stories because they help you feel a bit closer to the industry — they put you in the know. And, when you consider how large the supply chain is, geographically speaking, this desire to feel closer and know more makes sense. You cannot always be at a customer's office or a supplier's event. But you still want to know what it was like. You don't want to miss out. And, while some of this following may seem frivolous — just something nice to help put you into better touch with friends and colleagues on different coasts or along different shipping routes, much of it makes real business sense.
After all, your business development depends on relations across space: the better the connections, the more knowledge you have of diverse markets and the more opportunity you have to do more buisness.
We think that when we keep our eyes on people and keep our ears on innovation -- you'll find ideas. That's what we think is going to make you love this newsletter.
At the very least, by the end of lunchtime on Fridays, you'll know who has the next great idea.
