TransForce Reports Lower 3Q Income

Canadian transportation and logistics firm TransForce Inc. said its third-quarter net income fell to C$17 million, or 19 cents a share, from C$26.5 million, or 31 cents, a year ago.

Revenue fell to C$451 million, from C$595 million a year earlier, TransForce said Friday.

“Demand continues to be depressed across Canada, and particularly in Western Canada,” said Alain Bédard, TransForce’s chief executive officer. “Now we must monitor the effect of the appreciating Canadian dollar on a recovery in the manufacturing sector.”

TransForce Inc. is ranked No. 15 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
