Trailer Carrying Props Is Stolen

The cast and crew on tour with "The Phantom of the Opera" got a scare when a tractor-trailer carrying $800,000 in props and scenery mysteriously vanished from a parking lot, but the show will go on.

Someone drove off with the trailer, which hauled the backdrop for the set and all the lights and rigging, on Dec. 10 while the national tour of the musical was stopped in Hartford, Conn.

The theft won’t force the tour to be canceled however, because a duplicate truck and set, which usually traveled in advance to the tour’s next stop, is being used.

The producers of The Phantom of the Opera are offering a $6,000 dollar reward for the safe return of the trailer. Anyone with information should call Stagecall at 800-455-3961.
