Trail King Buys Dakota Trailer Manufacturing

Says Move Will Expand Agricultural Product Line

Trail King Industries Inc. has acquired Dakota Trailer Manufacturing Inc., which makes aluminum grain trailers for the agricultural market. Terms were not disclosed.

The acquisition, announced May 1, is seen “as part of [its] long-term strategic growth plan,” Trail King said. Its agricultural product line now will include aluminum grain trailers ranging from 21 to 51 feet.

Both companies are headquartered in South Dakota. Trail King, based in Mitchell, makes agricultural, commercial, construction, material hauling and specialized hauling equipment. Dakota Trailer Manufacturing, based in Yankton, began as Hawkeye Manufacturing in 1968.

“Our sights are set on continuing to exceed dealers’ and customers’ expectations by providing new solutions that complement Trail King’s current offerings,” CEO Bruce Yakley said.

“Trail King’s widely recognized brand value and expansive dealer and customer reach makes it an exemplary home for Dakota Trailer,” said Brian Strahl, president and owner of Dakota Trailer.
