Tornado Destroys Oklahoma Truck Stop

Tornados ripped through Oklahoma Monday, killing five, injuring 10 and destroying a Love’s Travel Stop near Oklahoma City, among other buildings.

Dozens of motorists stopped at the Love’s at Choctaw Road and Interstate 40, east of Oklahoma City, as the area’s storms turned violent and formed tornados, the Oklahoman reported.

The motorists crowded into a freezer at the service station as a tornado hit the building directly, destroying it along with many of the trucks and cars parked nearby, a spokeswoman for Love’s told the Times Newsline.

The motorists escaped with little more than superficial injuries, the Oklahoman said.
