TMC to Develop Fleet Guidelines for Three Truck Safety Systems

ASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Technology and Maintenance Council said it would develop three new Recommended Practices to serve as guidelines for fleets interested in learning more about forward collision and lane departure warning systems as well as roll stability systems.

The announcement came during a task force session at TMC’s fall meeting here. The council is a division of American Trucking Associations.

Richard Bishop, an industry consultant from Granite, Md., who led the task force session, said the purpose of the RPs was “to take the mystery out” of the three technologies, which are generating interest among fleets and, in some cases, attracting new vendors.
