Tire Makers Boosting Prices

Several major commercial tire makers have set price increases due to higher materials and other costs.

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. said its price increases, which took effect Saturday, will boost prices on its Goodyear, Dunlop and Kelly brand commercial tires by up to 8%, and Goodyear Tread Rubber prices by up to 7%.

Bridgestone Bandag Tire Solutions said it will boost prices on its Firestone, Dayton and Bandag brand products by up to 6%.

“Bridgestone Bandag Tire Solutions continues to look for ways to balance costs and continue to deliver a premium package of value to our dealer and fleet customers,” Kurt Danielson, BBTS’  vice president of sales and marketing, said in a statement.

“Today, however, we have reached a point where we must increase prices due to the unrelenting escalation of costs outside of our control for energy, fuel and raw materials,” he said.

Bandag retread material prices increased by up to 6% in the United States effective Saturday, while base prices for Firestone and Dayton brand truck radial tires will increase by up 6% starting June 1.
