Three Companies Upgrade Their GPS Products

TomTom NV said its Pro 7150 truck-specific GPS is now available and provides drivers and fleet managers with routing that factors in vehicle profiles, road attributes and restrictions.

The maker of navigation products said Pro 7150 favors main roads over secondary routes and avoids sharp turns and U-turns. It also includes hazmat restrictions and a collection of weight and dimension limitations to avoid low bridge clearances.

In November, Networkfleet Inc. announced the availability of its 5200 GPS tracking device and its 5500 engine diagnostic product.

The maker of wireless products said both devices are compatible with light-, medium- and heavy-duty vehicles. Networkfleet said the 5500 monitors diagnostic trouble codes, ignition status, speed, odometer and fuel efficiency.

Networkfleet is a subsidiary of Hughes Telematics Inc.

Track Your Truck, which offers GPS tracking for trucks through cellphones, will introduce an updated version of its NetTrack Mobile software in December.

The new software will have the ability to remotely disable the starter and unlock doors from the driver’s or dispatcher’s mobile phone or iPad, the company said. These features  also were introduced in the company’s Coyote series of tracking devices in September 2011.
