EPA to Provide Analysis for '07 Engines
The Environmental Protection Agency would provide analysis to Congress to help fleets get 2007-compliant engines into their trucks, EPA Administrator Mike Leavitt said May 13.Giving fleets tax incentives would be a congressional decision, Leavitt said following a presentation of new clean diesel technologies at International Truck and Engine Corp.
At the event, International said it had partnered with EPA to evaluate clean diesel combustion technologies to meet stringent automotive emissions levels in 2007 and 2010. Transport Topics
Idaho Develops Web Site for Truckers
The state of Idaho has developed a Web site for truckers to obtain permits, license information and weather and road conditions.The Idaho Transportation Department, Idaho State Tax Commission, and Idaho State Police have collaborated with Access Idaho, the state's official Web site, to create the Web site located at trucking.idaho.gov, the state said in a statement.
The site also includes links to the transportation sites of neighboring states and the federal government. Transport Topics
Panasonic to Produce XM-Ready Stereos for Trucking Fleets
XM Satellite Radio said Monday that Panasonic would produce XM-ready stereo units for trucking fleets.
M said in a statement Panasonic planned to manufacture two types of XM-Ready-AM/FM truck stereos, one with a CD player and one with a cassette tape player.
The truck stereo units will be compatible with the XM Direct tuner box and will be distributed starting in July by Pana Pacific Corp., XM said. Transport Topics
