TA Agrees to Settle Flying J Lawsuit

Truck stop chain TravelCenters of America said Thursday it has agreed to settle a 2006 civil suit by competitor Flying J Inc. regarding processing of card transactions.

TA said in a statement it will pay $5 million to Flying J.

The suit contended that TA and others refused to use the TCH LLC electronic payment processing system, whose majority owner is Flying J. At the same time, TA said it would agree to use the TCH payment system. TA will continue to accept others’ electronic payment methods.

Acceptance of TCH cards will begin at Travel Centers of America, TA and Petro Stopping Centers, after court approval of the settlement, TA said in a statement.
